Getting started
This page walks you through everything one step at a time, in the exact order you'll do it. You don't need to be "techy" — just start at the top and follow along. Stuck anywhere? There's a Contact link at the top of every page.
The short version: make your account, then watch in the Jellyfin app. If something's missing, ask for it in Seer. That's the whole thing.
What this is
TaberNaCl Media is a private movies-and-TV service — think of it like having our own Netflix. There are two parts you'll use:
- Jellyfin — this is where you actually watch. It's the app (and website) with all the movies and shows.
- Seer — if a movie or show isn't in the library yet, you go here to ask for it. It gets added for you, and then shows up in Jellyfin.
That's it. Watch in Jellyfin, request in Seer. The rest of this page just shows you how to set each one up.
01 Set up your account
The admin sent you an invite link (a web address, usually by text or email). You only do this part once.
Open the invite link
Tap the link the admin sent you. It opens a page where you create your login.
Pick a username and password
Type in a username and a password you'll remember. Write them down somewhere safe — you'll use this same login for everything on TaberNaCl.
Press the button to create it
Tap the create/submit button. Your account now exists. You're ready to log in.
No invite link, or it stopped working? They expire after a while. Just ask for a new one and the admin will send a fresh link.
02 Log in on the website
Before installing anything, let's make sure your login works. You can watch right in a web browser.
Open your web browser
Chrome, Safari, Edge — whatever you normally use to go online.
Go to the website
At the very top of the browser there's a bar where you type web addresses. Type watch.tabernacl.com and press Enter (or "Go").
A login box appears. Type the username and password you just made, then press Sign In.
You can watch everything right here in the browser. But the app (next steps) looks nicer and works better on phones and TVs.
03 Get the app on your phone
Find the app store on your phone, then install the right app. Pick your phone below.
If you have an Android phone
1. Open the Play Store (the colorful triangle icon).
2. Search for Jellyfin.
3. Tap Install on the one simply called "Jellyfin."
If you have an iPhone
1. Open the App Store (blue icon with a white "A").
2. Search for Swiftfin.
3. Tap Get to install it.
Swiftfin is just the name of the Jellyfin app for iPhone — that's the one we recommend.
04 Log in on the phone app
Open the app you just installed. The first time, it asks for two things: the server address, then your login.
Type the server address
It'll ask for a "server" or "server address." That just means the web address. Type https://watch.tabernacl.com and tap Connect.
Type your username and password
The same ones you created in step 1.
Tap Sign In
That's it — the whole library is now on your phone.
It works everywhere. Home or away, on Wi-Fi or mobile data. You don't need a VPN or anything extra — just open the app.
05 Get the app on your TV
It's the same idea as your phone: open your TV's app store, search for Jellyfin, and install it. Find your TV (or streaming device) below.
Apple TV
Open the App Store on the Apple TV, search Swiftfin, and install it.
Android TV / Google TV
Open the Play Store on the TV, search Jellyfin, and install "Jellyfin for Android TV."
Amazon Fire TV / Fire Stick
Open the Appstore on the Fire TV, search Jellyfin, and install it.
Roku
From the Roku home screen, find Search (or "Streaming Channels"), search Jellyfin, and choose Add Channel.
LG TV
Open the LG Content Store, search Jellyfin, and install the app.
Samsung TV
Newer Samsung TVs now have a Jellyfin app. Open the Apps store on the TV, search Jellyfin, and install it. If you can't find it, your TV's software is a bit older and doesn't support it yet — plug in a cheap Roku, Fire Stick, or Apple TV, or use the TV's web browser to go to watch.tabernacl.com.
Old TV, or no app for it? Any cheap streaming stick (Roku, Fire Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast) plugs into the TV's HDMI port and gives you a proper Jellyfin app. It's the simplest route and works great.
06 Log in on your TV
Open the app on your TV. First it asks for the server address; after that you sign in. Typing a password with a remote is no fun, so there's an easier way called Quick Connect — try that first.
Type the server address
When the app asks for the "server," type watch.tabernacl.com with your remote. Go slowly and double-check each letter. (You only do this once.)
The easy way: Quick Connect (no password typing)
Quick Connect lets you sign in by entering a short code on your phone instead of typing your password on the TV.
On the TV, choose Quick Connect
At the login screen, pick Quick Connect. (On some TVs you tap Manual Login first, then you'll see it.) A 6-character code appears — leave that screen up.
On your phone, open Quick Connect
On your phone or computer, open Jellyfin and sign in if needed (the app, or watch.tabernacl.com). Tap your profile picture in the top-right corner, then choose Quick Connect.
Type in the code
Enter the 6-character code shown on your TV and confirm. Your TV signs itself in a second later — no password needed on the TV.
If Quick Connect isn't there: use your username and password
Some TVs or apps don't offer Quick Connect. In that case, just sign in the normal way:
Type your username and password
Use the remote to enter the same username and password you use everywhere else here. Take your time and double-check each character.
Select Sign In
Done — the TV remembers you, so you won't have to do this again.
07 Request a movie or show
Can't find something in Jellyfin? Ask for it in Seer. First you log into Seer, then you request. (Easiest to do this in a web browser on your phone or computer.)
First, log into Seer
Go to the Seer website
In your browser's address bar, type request.tabernacl.com and press Enter.
Sign in with your Jellyfin login
If there's a button that says "Use your Jellyfin account" (or similar), tap it. Then enter the same username and password you use for Jellyfin.
Then, request what you want
Search for it
Use the search box at the top and type the movie or show name. Tap the right result.
Tap Request
Tap the Request button. For a TV show, you can choose all seasons or just specific ones.
Wait for it to appear
You're done. It gets added automatically and shows up in Jellyfin when it's ready — often within minutes.
If something is already in the library, Seer tells you and gives you a link straight to it in Jellyfin — so you never wait on something you already have.
08 Put Seer on your phone
Seer doesn't have a normal app in the app store, but you can add it to your home screen so it opens with its own icon, just like an app. Takes about ten seconds.
On an iPhone
1. Open Safari and go to request.tabernacl.com.
2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom).
3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
4. Tap Add. A Seer icon appears on your phone.
On an Android phone
1. Open Chrome and go to request.tabernacl.com.
2. Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
3. Tap Add to Home screen (or "Install app").
4. Tap Add. A Seer icon appears on your phone.
That's everything for normal use. The section below is just nice-to-know extras — you don't need any of it to watch.
Extra stuff (only if you want it)
Turn subtitles on, or change the audio
While a video is playing, tap the screen to bring up the controls, then look for a speech-bubble or gear icon. From there you can turn on subtitles or switch the audio language. Most titles have several options.
Download to watch offline (phone app)
In the phone app, open a movie or episode and look for a download icon (a downward arrow). It saves to your phone so you can watch on a plane or anywhere without internet. Delete it when you're done to free up space.
Save your favorites
Tap the heart on any movie or show to add it to your favorites, so it's easy to find again later.
If the video keeps pausing to "buffer"
This usually means the internet connection is a bit slow. In the player, look for a quality or settings option and choose a lower quality — it'll play much more smoothly. On Wi-Fi, moving closer to the router (or restarting it) helps too.
How the whole thing works (behind the scenes)
You only ever touch Jellyfin (to watch) and Seer (to request). But here's what happens after you hit "Request," so the wait makes sense:
You ask in Seer
Seer takes your request and passes it along to the system that finds things.
It goes and finds a good copy
Automatic tools search for a nice-quality version of exactly what you asked for.
It downloads and organizes it
The file is downloaded, named properly, and filed in the right place — with the correct poster and details.
Jellyfin shows it to you
Jellyfin notices the new file and adds it to the library, ready to watch.
How long does it take? Popular stuff is often ready in minutes. Brand-new releases, rare titles, or 4K can take longer — or occasionally can't be found. If a request is stuck for days, send a support message.
Quick fixes
- "Can't connect to server": make sure you typed
https://watch.tabernacl.comexactly. If it still won't connect, the server may be briefly down — wait a bit and try again. - Login won't work: passwords are case-sensitive (capital letters matter). Reset it on the account page.
- Still stuck on anything: send us a message with what device you're on and what's happening, and we'll help.
